Location: Ballroom (2nd Floor)
Speaker: Paul Lomangino (Tesla Motors)
Content: Tesla Motors designs and sells high-performance, highly efficient electric sports cars — with no compromises. Tesla Motors cars combine style, acceleration, and handling with advanced technologies that make them among the quickest and the most energy-efficient cars on the road. With goals of delivering 1500 vehicles per year – it’s important for the company to work as efficiently as possible. And the spreadsheets that the company was relying on for tracking and managing key information proved to be more of a hindrance than anything. Version control was not possible and the system was susceptible to errors.
A little less than a year ago, the hunt began for a better solution and the company selected Intuit QuickBase. Today, QuickBase is solving various business needs throughout the company and usage continues to grow organically. Five QuickBase apps have already been customized and rolled out. One in particular, the transmission tracking application that Paul Lomangino created and deployed in a day has 30-35 people using it daily. Deployment was easy and adoption was even easier. Paul will share his experience in selecting and deploying QuickBase across the company.
Paul Lomangino manages the CAD and engineering tools at Tesla Motors. His focus has been on providing the data creation, manipulation and management tools needed by the design and engineering teams. Prior to Tesla, he worked in Ford Motor Company’s Advanced Vehicle Technology division and RFID manufacturer Alien Technology’s manufacturing group.
